Tixel
Before Your Tixel Treatment
Prepare your skin by using our recommended homecare for at least 2 weeks for best results and minimal downtime and risk.
Avoid sun exposure, tanning products and use a zinc-based physical sunscreen for at least 4 weeks before Tixel treatment.
Stop your Vitamin A 3 days before Tixel treatment. If you are using a retinol prescribed by a doctor, stop use 5 days prior to treatment.
Contact us for advice if you have or suspect a cold sore is developing, or have an infection on the areas to be treated.
Arrive at the clinic 30 minutes before your treatment appointment time so local anaesthetic can be applied to the skin to be treated to ensure your comfort.
Skincare After Your Tixel Treatment
Stop your usual homecare regime and use only a gentle cleanser, sunscreen and hydrator twice a day for the first 5 days. We highly recommend SuperSerum (hyaluronic acid and peptide based serum) to be applied post treatment to help with hydration and Uberzinc to protect your freshly treated skin from the UVA/UVB rays.
You can apply a clean, new mineral makeup to the skin after 24 hours. Do not use an old or non-mineral product as this increases the risk of infection. Ensure brushes are clean and disinfected.
After 7 days, restart your home-care as advised by your tw&SKIN clinician. Re-introduce your Vitamin A 7-10 days post treatment and Vitamin C 14-20 dayspost treatment or as your skin tolerates. If redness, rashing or irritation occurs, contact us immediately.
After Your Tixel Treatment
The skin will initially feel red and hot, like a sunburn. This will subside over the following 12 hours but some residual pinkness will remain and is normal.
Mild swelling, especially around the eyelids, is normal and an over-the-counter antihistamine from your pharmacist can help along with soft cool packs from the fridge.. Contact us immediately if pain, swelling and redness increase or there are signs of discharge via 0435 819 110
Do not do anything that will cause heat in the skin for a few days, like very hot showers, saunas or high-energy exercise.
Do not expose the skin to chlorine, bleach, dye or any other potential irritant until it normalises
The skin will likely develop microdots in the following days from the channels created in treatment that appear brown and rough as pigment and dead cells lift out. Let the process resolve and do not pick, rub, scratch or exfoliate as this may induce scarring.
Avoid sun exposure, tanning products and use a zinc based physical sunscreen for at least 4 weeks after your Tixel treatment.
Do not have any invasive procedure on the treated areas for example anti-wrinkle injections, dermal fillers, laser/IPL or peels for a minimum of 2 weeks after Tixel treatment. We are always happy to help - contact our clinicians for advice.
